Brad Binder is scrambling to save his MotoGP career for the 2027 season, and Gavin Emmett has pointed the South African towards Trackhouse.
The KTM rider has been desperately struggling for the past 17 months in MotoGP, with Pedro Acosta dethroning him as their lead rider. Consistency has been a huge problem for Binder, and it could cost him his seat in 2027.
Will Brad Binder be on the MotoGP grid in 2027?
Acosta is joining Ducati next year, but KTM have already signed his replacement in Alex Marquez. The second rider is up in the air right now, with Maverick Vinales’ factory contract being ‘suspended’ due to his poor start to the 2026 season.
That gives Binder a lifeline for now, but it is clear that he is facing pressure internally. Pit Beirer has told Binder to ditch his rear tyre braking technique as KTM look to improve his results ahead of 2027.

Gavin Emmett tells Trackhouse to look at Brad Binder for 2027
It has been reported that Binder has no Plan B if he leaves KTM next year. However, MotoGP commentator Emmett would love to see the South African on another bike.
Trackhouse want an ‘experienced’ rider to replace Ai Ogura, who is off to Yamaha in 2027. Speaking on TNT Sports 2 during the Spanish Grand Prix, Emmett wonders if the team should look at Binder.

“[There’s] talk that he’s got a couple of weekends to prove to the hierarchy there at KTM that he’s got what they need still. I’d like to see him on another bike,” he said.
“You know they talk about Trackhouse looking for an experienced rider who can win races? You’d look at Brad Binder, wouldn’t you?”
Colleague Neil Hodgson added: “You would. But would you pick him over Joan Mir?Mir is wanted by Trackhouse, but Emmett thinks Binder could be better: “Joan Mir, how many has he won? One race, and Brad Binder has won, in kind of different circumstances, two.”

Gavin Emmett says ‘not everyone’ can leave MotoGP in 2027
Binder is among multiple riders on the MotoGP grid who are out of contract in 2026. Many of them, including Alex Rins, Jack Miller and Franco Morbidelli, are rumoured to be leaving the sport at the end of the year.
But Emmett believes that those experienced riders cannot leave the sport at the same time: “Brad is up against it, isn’t he? In terms of finding a ride for next year. But I do always find [that] people in his kind of position, not everyone can leave MotoGP in one year.
“Everyone tells me that Jack is on his way out, Morbidelli is on his way out, Rins is on his way out, Binder, Luca Marini’s on his way out, Mir’s on his way out. Not everyone can leave at the same time.”
