Jorge Martin was touched by Pedro Acosta’s recent comments about his comeback this year after a horrific crash in Qatar last year.

Martin suffered a career-altering crash at the Qatar Grand Prix last year, one that ruled him out for a great portion of the 2025 MotoGP season.

For any rider, this would be a devastating blow. But for Jorge Martin, who was the defending world champion at the time, it was a crushing experience.

Jorge Martin thinks the 2027 regulations will make riding skill ‘more important’ – So, which rider will benefit the most?

Martin’s comeback this season has been nothing short of spectacular, as the Aprilia rider finds himself in the championship mix, sitting just four points behind his teammate and championship leader, Marco Bezzecchi.

After overcoming the severe injury issues, Martin claimed he was a better rider now than he was before his injury. But to hear praise from Pedro Acosta, one of his contemporaries, moved the Spanish rider.

Jorge Martin ‘completely’ agrees with Pedro Acosta over comeback after 2025 Qatar GP

Speaking to Diario AS a few weeks ago, Pedro Acosta claimed that Jorge Martin’s comeback is one of the greatest in the history of the sport.

“Jorge’s is another one of the greatest comebacks in the history of sport. After everything he suffered last year, what he has done is truly remarkable.”

Now, in his own interview with AS, Martin responded with the utmost gratitude towards Acosta for his words of praise and affirmation.

“Yes, I read it. I read it, and I completely agree. I really appreciate Pedro’s words. I think only the riders know what we go through.

“Few people appreciate it when things are going well, and only a very few who have suffered truly know what it’s like to have to be back at the front. I’m very grateful.”

Jorge Martin could complete miraculous comeback with championship win

Jorge Martin has overcome circumstances that could end the career of many other riders. In doing that alone, he has achieved something truly historic.

But for a rider of Martin’s pedigree, the comeback alone isn’t going to be enough to satisfy him. Martin will want to be back in the championship mix this year.

Martin has said he’s at a new 100% after his injury. And that will give him the confidence to chase Marco Bezzecchi in the standings this year.

The title fight between the two teammates will likely create a difficult dynamic for Aprilia, as they will have to ensure that neither rider feels neglected by the team.

While they won’t officially back either rider, Aprilia will be rooting for Bezzecchi, given that Martin is leaving to join Yamaha next season.
