Mat Oxley claims Brad Binder found himself in ‘a world of pain’ after Diogo Moreira battle

Mat Oxley thinks Brad Binder’s outing in Austin showed he isn’t in the best form right now, especially after barely fending off Diogo Moreira.

Binder managed a P12 finish at the United States Grand Prix, far from an ideal result for the South African rider in a season marred by struggles.

Pedro Acosta wants to see more out of Binder, especially as he has asked KTM to improve the RC16 to help his teammate bring in points more consistently.

Binder finds himself 12th in the championship standings after his disappointing outing in Austin. His performances this season have only added to the speculation surrounding Binder’s future.

With even KTM questioning Binder’s contribution, his struggles last weekend, especially against Diogo Moreira, are not going to ease the speculation about his future.

Mat Oxley concerned for Brad Binder after tense battle with ‘super impressive Diogo Moreira

Mat Oxley spoke on the Oxley Bom MotoGP podcast recently, where he questioned the performance of Brad Binder at the United States Grand Prix.

After finding himself behind Francesco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer, Binder barely held off Diogo Moreira to secure P12. And even then, Moreira looked better on the day.

“I mean, Bagnaia down in 10th, Aldeguer 11th, Binder, 12th. He’s in a world of pain. He only beat Diogo Moreira by a fraction.

“Moreira, he’s fast, consistent. He’s not doing mind-boggling stuff, but he’s doing well. He’s not making mistakes. Super impressive.”

Binder’s performance was quite weak, especially considering he was outperformed yet again by Pedro Acosta, who managed to earn a P3 finish for KTM. Even Binder was let down by his own performance.

Brad Binder echoes Mat Oxley’s comments after ‘tricky’ battle with Diogo Moreira

Speaking after the United States Grand Prix, Brad Binder told Speedweek that he just couldn’t find the pace to get a better result, and was hoping to turn things around at Jerez.

“It was a really difficult weekend for me. I was super slow and never found more pace at any point during the weekend.

“The race was very long. I felt chatter right from the start of the race, and it got more and more intense as the race progressed. It was really tricky.

“Two twelfth places is far from what I would consider good. We have a lot of homework, and hopefully we’ll be faster in Jerez.”

Binder has looked completely lost this season, failing to deliver results for KTM. And if this continues, his future with the team will be in serious jeopardy, even more so than it is now.
