When is the next MotoGP race? Spanish Grand Prix schedule after Qatar race postponed

MotoGP have announced the delay of the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

As a result, the United States Grand Prix now marks the start of a three-week break in the MotoGP calendar, which won’t be seen again until the summer break in mid July.

Unlike Formula 1, who opted to completely cancel the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, MotoGP bosses have re-organised the end of the season, with the Qatar Grand Prix moving to 8 November.

Instead of having five consecutive race weekends, the Portugal Grand Prix and season finale in Valencia will be pushed back a week, with all other races remaining unaffected.

Speaking as part of the postponement, CEO of MotoGP, Carmelo Ezpeleta said: “This decision was taken with great care and in full coordination with our partners in Qatar and across the paddock.

“Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of everyone involved in MotoGP, as well as ensuring that every Grand Prix is delivered to the highest possible standard.”

When is the next MotoGP race after America?

With the upcoming Qatar Grand Prix postponed until November, the next MotoGP race will be the Spanish Grand Prix. The event is scheduled for 24-26 April, creating a three-week gap between races.

The race has been postponed due to the war in Iran, which has seen flights across the Middle East grounded, and at the time of writing, shows few flights coming in and out of Qatar, providing significant logistical issues.

The delay to Qatar means that MotoGP is now headed to the European leg of the calendar and the first of four Spanish races in 2026.

What is the schedule for the 2026 Spanish Grand Prix?

The MotoGP Spanish Grand Prix will take place over the weekend of 24–26 April, marking the only race on the calendar that month.

Sunday’s race at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto is scheduled to begin at 2pm and will run for 25 laps.
