Fabio Di Giannantonio secured pole position for the 2026 United States Grand Prix as Marc Marquez suffered with traffic to claim a spot on the second row of the grid in P6.
The proceedings on Saturday at the Circuit of the Americas got off to a difficult start for several riders who crashed out of FP2 ahead of qualifying.
Marco Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez and Ai Ogura were among the names who found themselves in the gravel at turn two. Fortunately, every rider who experienced an off during free practice was unscathed for the ensuing shootout.

Joan Mir and Raul Fernandez put themselves in the running for a spot in Q2 following the initial laps in the first session, while Fabio Quartararo experienced a bizarre crash during his first flyer.
The Frenchman managed to get back on track and set a competitive lap time, but was unable to secure a spot in Q2. He will start Sunday’s Grand Prix from P16.
As the chequered flag fell in Texas for the end of Q1, Fermin Aldeguer booked himself a spot in the top-12 shootout after setting the benchmark ahead of Mir.
Fabio Di Giannantonio claimed pole position at the 2026 MotoGP United States Grand Prix
As the pit lane opened for the start of Q2, Francesco Bagnaia’s first effort saw him claim provisional pole as well as smash the all-time lap record for the Circuit of the Americas.
The pace quickly ramped up, though. Marc Marquez was on a lap that looked to compete with Bagnaia, but was hindered by Enea Bastianini as they approached turn 12.
Instead, Mir continued his fine form from Q1 to snatch the top spot from the factory Ducati rider before the grid entered the pits in preparation for the final flying laps.
Marquez was the first rider to appear in the dying stages of the session, not wanting to suffer a similar fate that scuppered his first laps. Bezzecchi claimed the top spot for all of a few seconds before Fabio Di Giannantonio set the timing sheets alight.
The Italian remained in the top spot at the chequered flag, with Bezzecchi slotting in behind him and Pedro Acosta rounding out the front row of the grid.
