The truth behind Marco Bezzecchi and Jorge Martin’s relationship at Aprilia has been revealed.
After a year with Jorge Martin on the sidelines, Aprilia Racing have a full rider line-up for the 2026 season now that the Spaniard is back on track with the RS-GP.
Marco Bezzecchi stepped up for Aprilia in the absence of Martin during the 2025 MotoGP season, as the Italian won three Grands Prix, whilst his teammate could only watch on.
However, now that the two are back together for the 2026 season, they have already duelled on track during the Brazilian Grand Prix at the Goiania Circuit.
After dominating the opening Grand Prix in Thailand, Bezzecchi was looking to do the double in Brazil. However, the Italian lost out to Martin on Saturday as he finished in fourth, with Martin in fourth. But on Sunday, Bezzecchi settled the score as he won the Grand Prix, and Martin finished in second place.

Lorenzo Savadori reveals the Aprilia garage is ‘close-knit’
Despite the recent rivalry between the two riders in the early stages of the 2026 season, the Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori revealed to ZamTube the truth behind Bezzecchi and Martin’s relationship.
The Italian believes that the Aprilia garage remains ‘close-knit’ despite the performances Bezzecchi and Martin have displayed during the early stages of the season.
Savadori said, “What you see is exactly the atmosphere inside the pit; the fact that we never give up, the fact that we’re still a very close-knit team on both sides.
“There’s a lot of talking in the pit, a lot of discussion between the technicians and the riders, and in my opinion, this is still the right way to go about growing, because when you have two riders who are performing so strongly, clearly, Jorge Martin is the 2024 world champion, Marco Bezzecchi, who finished third last year and is going really strong, has won the last four races in a row.
“This is very important for both of us, also to motivate ourselves and improve, because, as I always say, MotoGP is never enough. It’s never enough from a technical standpoint, but also from a riding standpoint. You have to always have this desire to learn, to improve, and to perfect yourself.”

Melandri predicted the Brazil GP would be a litmus test for Martin
Ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix, former MotoGP rider Marco Melandri discussed the Aprilia Racing duo and how Martin needed to be able to match Bezzecchi.
After being beaten by Bezzecchi in Thailand, Melandri believed the Brazilian Grand Prix would be ‘the litmus test’ for Martin as he needed to match his teammate.
Melandri said, “This could be, let’s say, the litmus test of the season, where we’ll see whether Martin has what it takes to keep up with Bezzecchi or whether he’ll actually be able to match him.”
The Italian was correct with his comments about Martin, as the Spaniard was able to capitalise at the new circuit and was able to beat Bezzecchi on Saturday, and kept with him on Sunday.
