Marc Marquez opens up about the difficulties he is experiencing during the 2026 MotoGP season.
At the 2025 Indonesian Grand Prix, Marc Marquez’s 2025 season came to an end after he suffered shoulder injuries in a crash with Marco Bezzecchi.
This stopped the Spaniard’s dominant run during his first season with the factory Ducati squad, in which he claimed 11 Grand Prix victories as well as 14 Sprint Race victories.
However, since returning to MotoGP in 2026, Marquez has not been at his prior level during testing or the opening round of the season in Thailand.

Marc Marquez is struggling to ‘readjust’ after 2025 injuries
During an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Marquez admitted that he is struggling to find the ‘fluidity’ that he had in 2025 after his Indonesian Grand Prix injuries.
The Spaniard is now searching for an ‘optimal level’ with his Ducati GP26, to match the level that he had with his Ducati GP25.
Marquez said, “Well, after an injury, you always have to readjust, more or less, change things, find a way to give a little more. After every injury, 100% is different. That’s what I’ve learned in my sporting career.
“Sometimes that 100% drops by 1%, sometimes it drops by 10%, which is a huge amount for an athlete, but we’ll try to work these next few weeks and months to find an optimal level that allows us to enjoy ourselves on the bike.
“Right now, I’m at a physical level to fight for podiums, but I still want to take another step to try and find the fluidity I had last year.”

Ducati are ‘not worried’ about their performance level in 2026
During the same interview, Marquez discussed his performance at the first round of the season at the Chang International Circuit.
In the 2025 season, Marquez won the MotoGP Sprint Race and Grand Prix in Thailand, whereas in 2026 he finished the Sprint Race in second and failed to finish the Grand Prix.
However, he has stated that Ducati are ‘not worried’ about their level of performance after the opening races of the year.
Marquez said, “Well, obviously we would be less worried or happier, not worried, because we’re not, but happier, if we had started like last year, with pole position and victory in both races.
“That wasn’t the case, but hey, we started second, we came second in the sprint and on Sunday, if nothing had happened in those last six laps, we would have finished on the podium. So, not too bad.”
