Toprak Razgatlioglu has revealed that a ‘technical problem’ was the reason for his crash in the MotoGP Sprint Race.
On paper Toprak Razgatlioglu’s first Sprint Race in MotoGP looks underwhelming as he crashed out with three laps to go at the Chang International Circuit.
However, the Turkish rider showed great potential during his first race on the Pramac Racing Yamaha M1 as he was in 15th place at the time of his crash.
Razgatlioglu found himself one place behind his teammate Jack Miller and as the second highest Yamaha rider, as Alex Rins and Fabio Quartararo were behind him.
But it has been revealed that a technical problem was the reason for Razgatlioglu’s early departure from his first MotoGP Sprint Race.
Where will Toprak Razgatlioglu finish in his first MotoGP season?
Razgatlioglu reveals why his Sprint Race crash happened
After his first DNF as a MotoGP rider, Razgatlioglu revealed the reason behind his crash with MotoEtkinlik, as he revealed he suffered issues with engine braking.
However, the Turkish rider did not seem downhearted by his crash, as he was able to run with his experienced teammate, Miller, during his debut.
But Razgatlioglu is aware that his first Grand Prix as a MotoGP rider will be a different challenge and will likely be a ‘tough one’.
Razgatlioglu said, “I experienced a technical problem with the engine brake. That’s why the crash happened. Jack Miller and I did the very best we could. In some places he was stronger, in others I was. If there hadn’t been a crash, it would have been much better.
“Tomorrow’s race will be a tough one for us. I’ll do everything I can. A huge thank you to everyone who didn’t hold back their support.”

Toprak Razgatlioglu was able to use MotoGP seat aero
It was noticeable during the season opener that Razgatlioglu has been using the seat aero on his Yamaha M1 after not being able to use it in testing.
The reason that Razgatlioglu was unable to use the seat aero in testing was that he sits so low on the Yamaha M1; it is stated in the rules that the seat aero cannot be 150mm higher than the seat base.
However, on Thursday Yamaha were able to homologate Razgatlioglu’s machine with the rear aero on it as they were able to find a way around the issue.
With the rear aero on his M1, Razgatlioglu will be able to generate more rear downforce and increase his stopping power.
