Scott Ogden was back in action at the first Moto3 Test of the 2026 season at Portimao.

Scott Ogden’s 2025 Moto3 World Championship ended in disaster as he ended his season on the operating table after a crash at the Valencia Grand Prix.

Ogden crashed on the opening lap of the season finale, bringing an early end to his debut season with the CIP Green Power squad.

The British rider had previously been on a strong run of form as he finished seventh at Sepang and eighth at Portimao, but ended the 2025 season 15th in the Championship, his highest finish in his Grand Prix career.

Following on from the surgery he had in Madrid, it was expected that Ogden would miss the opening round of the 2026 season at the Thai Grand Prix. However, it now appears that the British rider may line up on the grid at the Chang International Circuit.

Scott Ogden made an early return at the Portimao Moto3 Test

Originally, doctors expected Ogden to be back on track at the Brazilian Grand Prix in March, but the British rider was back on his CIP Green Power KTM a month earlier than expected.

On the second day of the Portimao Test, the British rider was able to complete 19 laps around the Portuguese Circuit and found himself in 15th place on the timesheets.

Ogden is expected to be back on track again on the 14th and 15th of February at the upcoming Jerez Moto3 Test.

After the Portimao Test, Ogden said on X, “Not the most productive test with only minimal laps completed due to the weather. Super happy to be back on the bike, especially as it is a full month ahead of schedule.

“The few laps left us eager for Jerez, see you in a few days.”

How is 2026 shaping up for Scott Ogden?

The 2026 Moto3 season will mark Ogden’s fifth season in the series after he made his debut in the Grand Prix paddock in 2022.

The British rider recorded his best results in the lightweight class in 2025 after switching to KTM machinery. It is now expected that he will make another step this season, and Ogden will be a rider to watch in the Moto3 class.

With the 2026 season getting underway in two weeks’ time, the track time that Ogden will gain during his limited running in pre-season could be crucial to his performance this year.
