Pedro Acosta is one of the hottest prospects in the MotoGP rider market for the 2027 season, but no one is more in demand than Marc Marquez.

Marc Marquez proved to the world that he was still the best rider on the grid during 2025.

The Spaniard was formidable during his maiden season on factory Ducati machinery as he notched a staggering 25 wins out of the 36 races that he started.

However, Marquez has refused to pledge his future to Ducati in several interviews, and a decision isn’t likely to be made until more details about their 2027 challenger come to light.

At 32 years old, the Spaniard is the oldest MotoGP champion in the category’s history, and it is unclear how much longer he wishes to put his body on the line for glory.

A tenth Grand Prix motorcycle world championship is in sight, and Max Biaggi has theorised that this may be exactly what Marquez is holding out for.

Albert Valera predicts Marc Marquez’s MotoGP future beyond 2026

In a recent interview with Motosprint, Pedro Acosta’s agent, Albert Valera, was asked for his thoughts on the current landscape of the MotoGP rider market.

With the majority of the grid out of contract at the end of 2026, it means that a lot of big-name riders will be available for talks. Adding in the new regulations that will be present in 2027, changes are expected.

Asked for his prediction on who the first rider to make a move will be, Valera replied, “I think it will probably be Marc, he is the world champion. He deserves to be the reference of this market, and I think he will be the first to move”.

Of course, the follow-up question regarded where the seven-time premier class title winner will find himself racing in 2027, to which Valera refused to “make allusions”.

As far as his rider is concerned, discussions are likely to take place after the first few rounds of the upcoming campaign are in the books.

Valera added, “I think that next year there will be a lot of news. It won’t be easy to decide why you can’t evaluate this year’s bike to choose next year’s bike.

“I believe that this will lead all the riders to try to settle down during the first races of the championship to try to understand which team to work with for the future.”

Pedro Acosta could form ‘a match made in heaven’ with Marc Marquez at Ducati

Acosta is another rider whose services are in high demand, and Ducati currently look like they are in pole position to sign the 21-year-old for next year’s term.

A recent report suggested that Ducati have already sealed Acosta’s signature, but any sort of official confirmation is yet to arrive on the matter.

What’s more, Aprilia boss Massimo Rivola is also under the impression that Acosta will be donning Ducati’s red overalls in 2027.

The Italian team principal noted the potential partnership between the two Spaniards as a ‘match made in heaven’, despite others suggesting that they make sparks fly in the Ducati garages due to their highly ambitious natures.
