Aprilia emerged as the clear second-best to Ducati at the end of the 2025 MotoGP season, but next year could see the Italian constructor topple their compatriots thanks to one ‘awesome’ trait of Marco Bezzecchi’s.

Despite boasting a total of 38 world titles in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, a premier class riders’ championship has eluded Aprilia over their 18-year history in the sport.

Marco Bezzecchi’s impressive results in 2025 showed that the development race may currently be in their favour, and may be the only contender to dethrone Ducati’s recent dominance in the category.

The Borgo Panigale-based outfit have won all six of the constructors’ championships to take place in the current decade, and have produced bikes that have carried four out of the last six riders champions to glory.

Aprilia’s growth into a race-winning contention in the latter stages of 2025 certainly bodes well for their chances next year, and paired with Bezzecchi’s attributes, they could be unstoppable.

Mat Oxley shares a trait of Marco Bezzecchi’s that is apparently ‘awesome’

In a recent episode of the Oxley Bom MotoGP podcast, former motorcycle racer Mat Oxley touched upon Bezzecchi’s role within the factory Aprilia set-up as he shared a trait of the Italian rider’s that will surely aid their quest in reaching the top of the premier class’ pecking order.

He said, “The thing about Bezzecchi is, obviously, he’s hugely talented and apparently his feedback is awesome, but he’s also very brave.

“He’s a little guy, but he’s got a particular glint in his eye. He kind of almost enjoys the danger.”

Co-host Peter Bom then added, “Yeah, you’re not surprised when he talks to us, you know how he likes to talk in understatements.

“Sometimes he plays down a thing that we were all like, ‘Whoa, you nearly died two or three times.’ You can make fun of something when you enjoy it deeply inside. All these monsters have that.”

Oxley then added how these attributes of Bezzecchi is essential to Aprilia’s developments, saying, “If you’re living at that limit and you’re on the edge of that snappiness, that then allows Aprilia to work on making that better.

“If you keep backing out of that zone, they’re not going to learn anything about that zone. But if you’ve got a rider that’s living in that zone or on the edge of that zone, like Bezzecchi, they can work on trying to make the bike more predictable.”

Marco Bezzecchi’s ‘awesome’ feedback will be the key to Aprilia’s title hopes next season

Aprilia emerged as the number one contender to Ducati’s chokehold on MotoGP during the second half of the recently concluded campaign.

After spending the first half of the season getting used to his new machinery, it became clear that Bezzecchi was Marc Marquez’s closest competition.

The Italian rider added two Grand Prix victories in the final rounds to the one he secured at Silverstone earlier in the year, setting the Italian constructor up nicely for the upcoming season of racing.

Now in the midst of his first full winter break as an Aprilia rider, the 27-year-old can use his ‘awesome’ feedback to further refine the constructor’s 2026 bike in order for them to consistently challenge Ducati at every race next year.

During Aprilia’s emergence in 2025, Bezzecchi said that it would be ‘impossible’ to say that Aprilia had a better bike than Ducati, but 2026 could be a completely different verdict.
