It has barely been two years since Marc Marquez left Honda and already we’re talking about the potential of him rejoining them in the future.
Since joining Ducati, it seems as though the Spaniard has found the perfect fit. In 2025, he dominated the championship at the age of 32.
But will that last forever? With the MotoGP rider market set to spark into action soon, the seven-time champion is bound to have multiple options on the table.
Although a remarriage between Marquez and Honda may feel unlikely, there are plenty of reasons why it could still happen.
Who is the biggest threat to Marc Marquez in 2026?
Marquez has cancelled his ‘holidays’ in a bid to get back fit for the start of the 2026 campaign, after suffering a devastating injury at the Indonesian Grand Prix.
With his contract expiring soon, Marquez could sign a one-year Ducati deal to allow him to see who is strong when the new regulations begin in 2027. It could still be a gamble, though.

Five reasons why Marc Marquez must leave Ducati and rejoin Honda for 2027
Marc Marquez’s exit from Honda changed their procedures, and things have changed at a rapid rate since he left them behind in 2023.
Honda had ‘no hard feelings’ with Marquez, even after he decided to leave them for a rival team. Leaving on good terms is the first of five reasons why rejoining Honda would be a good idea.

And finally, he’d be escaping the looming problems at Ducati, with limitations on the GP25 holding riders back this year, and leaving some worries for the future.

How was Marc Marquez’s last MotoGP season with Honda in 2023
Marquez’s final season with Honda in 2023 was the most difficult of his career so far, missing multiple races and failing to win.
He scored one podium in Grands Prix and three in sprint races, mustering a 14th-place finish in the riders’ standings.
In 2024, they got even worse. It justified his decision to leave and chase a new opportunity at Gresini, giving him a one-year-old Ducati.
Since then, they have set about fixing their woes and have gradually improved. But, is it enough to convince Marquez to join them again?
