The final qualifying session of the 2025 MotoGP season took place at the Valencia Grand Prix on Saturday, with Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi taking pole ahead of Gresini rider Alex Marquez. Here, F1 Oversteer looks at how the field fared throughout the year.
The Marquez brothers were the only riders who maintained a 100% Q2 record during the season. This is a more impressive achievement for Alex given that he featured at all 22 rounds, while Marc has missed the last four due to injury.
Marc Marquez may have won the BMW M award, making him the season’s best qualifier, but Fabio Quartararo has arguably been the standout rider, pound-for-pound, over a single lap. He dragged Yamaha’s M1, statistically the poorest bike on the grid, to four poles and 21/22 Q2 sessions.
KTM’s Pedro Acosta whitewashed Brad Binder and also came close to a blemish-free season. The frustration for Acosta is that he finished the year without a pole.
Miguel Oliveira ends the 2025 MotoGP season with the most Q1 exits
This was likely the final MotoGP qualifying for Somkiat Chantra, who has struggled to justify his place on the grid since joining LCR. Chantra will join Honda’s World Superbikes team next year instead.
But Pramac rider Miguel Oliveira actually tops the Q1 elimination table with 17. It’s worth noting that Chantra missed five races due to injury, but Oliveira was out for four himself.
Yamaha terminated Oliveira’s contract to sign Toprak Razgatlioglu, and the Portuguese will follow Chantra to Superbikes. Meanwhile, a poor end to the season for Enea Bastianini sees him join fellow KTM rider Binder in a share of second.
