Red Bull could join forces with Ducati in 2027 and bring them a ‘dream’ teammate for Marc Marquez

Marc Marquez was forced to end his personal sponsorship deal with Red Bull when he joined the Ducati factory team this year. Ducati already had a partnership with rival energy drink company Monster.

When celebrating on the podium, Marquez can be seen holding a can of alcohol-free Estrella Galicia, rather than Monster. He’s open to a reunion with Red Bull, who had backed him since 2007, if it becomes feasible.

The Austrian brand remain prominent in MotoGP as a title sponsor of KTM and Tech3, as well as a personal sponsor for riders like Jorge Martin, Pedro Acosta and Alex Marquez. And, according to GPOne, they could soon go after a deal with the world champions.

There has been speculation that Red Bull could seek to buy KTM, who are facing an uncertain future, but this is not their objective.

Red Bull eye Ducati sponsorship and want Pedro Acosta next to Marquez

The report states that Red Bull ‘finally want to return to winning ways’, having seen Monster enjoy success with Ducati, VR46 and, more recently, Aprilia.

With that in mind, they could make an offer to Luigi Dall’Igna’s team for 2027. This would allow them to ‘resume their collaboration’ with Marquez.

Their vision is an all-Spanish ‘dream team’ of Marquez and Acosta. As the report notes, former KTM boss Francesco Guidotti wanted to pair the new riders at a new satellite team in 2024, but Dorna wouldn’t give them the grid slots.

If Ducati say no, then Red Bull could knock on Honda’s door, should they sign a superstar like Martin. They split with the Japanese manufacturer at the end of 2023 when Marquez left.

Why Ducati may be reluctant to sign Pedro Acosta

One can see why the pairing of Marquez and Acosta excites Red Bull, even beyond the commercial incentives. On one side of the garage, there’s one of the all-time greats, and on the other, there’s a rider tipped to reach that status.

In fact, Acosta has even been called the next Marquez – a moniker he predictably resists. He hasn’t won a premier-class race yet but is widely regarded as one of the top riders on the grid in just his second season.

There could be a scenario where Marquez retires and Acosta becomes the new face of MotoGP. Dorna have been bankrolling English lessons for the KTM rider for that reason.

However, there’s also a school of thought that Ducati won’t sign Acosta because his rivalry with Marquez could become too intense. A satellite team like VR46 may be a more realistic destination, much to Red Bull’s frustration.
