Pedro Acosta grabbed back-to-back Grand Prix podiums at Portimao this weekend, and he is working tirelessly behind the scenes to secure his maiden MotoGP win.

The Spaniard has made dramatic improvements since the summer break, having grabbed five podiums in the last 10 races. Acosta is one of four MotoGP riders yet to win a race, but he is edging closer, with three P2 finishes in 2025.

At the Portuguese Grand Prix, the KTM rider qualified second on the grid and battled hard for victory in the Sprint. However, Acosta lost to Alex Marquez by just one tenth of a second.

In Sunday’s race, the 21-year-old was no match for Marco Bezzecchi, who dominated in Portimao for his second win of the season. Acosta was overtaken by Marquez and fought well to keep close, but ultimately had to settle for P3.

Dani Pedrosa is helping Pedro Acosta improve ‘weak points’ behind the scenes at KTM

Acosta had a ‘turning point’ at KTM just before the summer break as he regained confidence in the bike. However, he admits that he still makes ‘small mistakes’ when fighting at the front, and he is looking to rectify that with the help of Dani Pedrosa.

The MotoGP legend and KTM test rider has been addressing Acosta’s ‘weak points’ behind the scenes and is helping him to become a stronger rider.

“Dani has a lot of experience and we was just talking about the race from yesterday and trying to manage in a different way,” said Acosta via TNT Sports 2.

“At the end, it’s just my second season in MotoGP and I still [have] many things, maybe when I’m too hot, let’s say, or I want to be too much in front like yesterday, I’m making small mistakes.

“We know that we have many weak points at the moment, and for this [I’m] just trying to become a better rider. Dani is, if not the best, is one of the best for this. He’s doing a great job.”
