Disinterested Brad Binder keeps saying the same thing when he’s asked about KTM’s MotoGP bike

Brad Binder just secured the best result of his MotoGP season and will be looking to go at least one better at the next race in Australia.

His 2025 campaign with KTM hasn’t remotely lived up to expectations and has resulted in his standing in the MotoGP championship since he was a rookie in 2020. The South African rider is under contract until the end of 2026, but his future is in question beyond that.

Binder just showed in Indonesia that the combination of his experience and patience can still yield good results. However, teammate Pedro Acosta’s regular podium appearances will put pressure on him, knowing that the bike is capable of achieving more.

After struggling on Friday and Saturday, Binder made a last-minute change at the Indonesian Grand Prix, helping him to gain 11 positions in the race. Once again, Binder’s turnaround was ‘really tricky’ and required him not to lose faith in his bike as the weekend progressed.

Brad Binder keeps refusing to give technical details about KTM’s MotoGP bike

Binder’s KTM problem is obvious in 2025, and he has been the subject of too many retirements. Not all of them have been his fault, and he would probably be in the top 10 of the standings without them, but he has still lacked pace overall.

It has now been 37 races since he last stepped onto the podium at the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix, and the absence of recently crowned champion Marc Marquez could present an opportunity in Australia and Malaysia.

Speaking on the Paddock Pass Podcast, David Emmett has just shared how Binder dislikes answering technical questions about his bike, giving very little in the way of detail to journalists.

“I always think that Brad Binder is brilliant at deflecting any technical questions at all,” he said. “Also, because he does have quite a good technical understanding.

“It’s just that he has absolutely zero interest in talking to journalists, really about anything, especially about the technical aspects of his bike, and he’ll just sort of like ‘I don’t know, I just ride the thing.’ That’s all of the technical detail that you are going to get out of it.

“It’s slightly less annoying than Marc Marquez’s ‘We tried something, and we tried some other things, and then we had some negatives and some positives and some negatives.'”

Why Brad Binder could be in trouble during the 2026 MotoGP season

With KTM’s future uncertain heading into the new MotoGP regulations in 2027, there’s a chance that they won’t be on the grid.

That means the four riders they currently have contracted to them will be looking for new opportunities that may be difficult to come by.

Acosta is likely to have his pick, but Maverick Vinales, Enea Bastianini, and Binder will need strong performances in 2026 to convince someone to sign them for the future.

If not, it could signal the end of their careers, which would be a sad way for each of them to sign off. Expect to see a punchy attitude on track from them next year.
