Jack Miller shares what he finds ‘impressive’ about Marc Marquez’s comeback to MotoGP after injury woes

Marc Marquez has produced one of the greatest comebacks in motorsport history as he closes in on the 2025 MotoGP title.

This season has been a long-awaited return to form for the 32-year-old. Marquez had struggled with numerous setbacks since his near-career-ending crash at Jerez in 2020.

Upon his return, Honda had regressed in performance before Marquez suffered another serious accident in Indonesia in 2022. The Spaniard left the Japanese giants in 2024 as he sought to find the right bike on the MotoGP grid.

Joining Gresini, he began to find his feet again, winning three races and finishing third in the standings behind Jorge Martin and Francesco Bagnaia. Shockingly, Marquez rode for free at Gresini as he focused on his comeback.

Marquez snubbed Martin for a factory Ducati seat in 2025, a decision that has resulted in one of the most dominant seasons in MotoGP history. The 32-year-old has won 25 races thus far and leads the championship by almost 200 points over brother Alex Marquez.

Jack Miller finds Marc Marquez’s comeback to MotoGP ‘impressive’ after numerous injury setbacks

Marquez has been almost ‘unbeatable’ in 2025, with crashes in Austin and Jerez preventing him from further dominance. Pramac rider Jack Miller has been impressed by the Spaniard as he assessed his comeback to the premier class.

Speaking via the Oxley Bom Podcast, the Aussie does not think that money played a factor in his return. Instead, Miller says that he was striving to ‘get better’ and find the top bike on the grid – he certainly has that at Ducati.

“I don’t even think the success or the money played into the fact of it, that’s a bonus. At the end of the day, he’s a motorcycle racer,” he said.

“That wouldn’t have even weighed in on the fact, I don’t think. In my mind, it wouldn’t, because that’s it, it ain’t going anywhere, unless I squander it, which would be very f—— hard to do.

“For sure, it may seem easier to throw the towel in, but I don’t think that was ever on his mind. He was just wrapping his brain on how to get better, how to make his arm work properly and also to get on the right machine.

“And he’s been able to, let’s say, put in two years of hard graft to get that bike and to get the package and get his body to where it needs to be.

“Then I think we’re seeing the fruits of that labour now. But yeah, I mean, it’s impressive, but is it any different to what any of us else would do?”

Marc Marquez has match point for the 2025 MotoGP title at Motegi

With a 182-point lead in the standings, Marquez has to outscore his brother Alex by three points at the next round at Motegi to seal the 2025 title. Marquez could have won the title at Misano, but a crash in the Sprint race denied that feat.

With 16 wins in his last 18 races, it seems impossible for the Ducati rider not to win the championship at the Japanese GP. Alex Marquez has already admitted defeat to his brother, with the Gresini rider being content with finishing second.

Marquez’s sparring partner doesn’t want him to win the title in Japan, as it is the home of his former team Honda. The 32-year-old created history with the manufacturer, winning six titles with the team between 2013 and 2019.

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali would love to wrap up the title at Motegi, with it being a huge statement from the Borgo Panigale outfit. With his current form, that does seem the likely outcome, but his crash during the Sprint at Misano shows that anything is possible.
