Marco Bezzecchi is “really happy” to see Jorge Martin reap the rewards for what he does behind the scenes at Aprilia, after taking P4 in the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix.

MotoGP visited Balaton Park for the first time last weekend and saw Martin achieve his best result as an Aprilia rider to date. The 27-year-old charged through the order from only 16th place on the grid to finish the first Hungarian GP since 1992 just 3.581s off Bezzecchi in P3.

The Hungarian GP was only Martin’s fourth appearance on the Aprilia RS-GP25, and marked only his second Grand Prix finish of the 2025 MotoGP season, after joining from Pramac. He also took P7 in the Czech Grand Prix on the Spaniard’s return from injury after seven rounds.

Martin “broke down” in Aprilia’s garage at Balaton Park, too, having been hit with a wave of emotion after the Hungarian GP given how much the Madrid native had questioned himself while injured. Martin missed three months with his hemopneumothorax and 11 broken ribs.

Jorge Martin’s ‘amazing’ work behind the scenes at Aprilia stuns Marco Bezzecchi

Martin worked tirelessly during the summer break to improve his fitness between the Czech and Austrian Grands Prix, as well. The reigning MotoGP riders’ champion’s extensive cycling programme also helped him to lose weight, with Martin weighing less than he did in Moto2.

All of the effort and commitment that Martin puts into improving his performances behind the scenes has stunned Aprilia teammate Bezzecchi. So, seeing the Spaniard charge to P4 in the Hungarian GP brought the Italian delight, on top of his third Grand Prix podium in a row.

Bezzecchi outlined, via GPOne: “I’m happy for Jorge, who did a great race. It’s definitely very important to have more feedback, and Jorge can give the engineers important information – in addition to mine and the Trackhouse riders’.

“We knew he was coming, and he was going to be fast. A rider never forgets how to ride a motorcycle, especially a world champion like him. I spent so much time with him, and it’s amazing how much he works on everything. I’m really happy for him.”

Bezzecchi has now finished four of the past five Grands Prix on the podium, with his crash in Germany splitting the 26-year-old’s P2 at Assen from his P2 at Brno and P3s in Austria and Hungary. The Rimini native has scored 103 of his 197 points this season in those five rounds.

Now, Bezzecchi will hope Martin’s feedback can also help the Noale constructor to improve the RS-GP as he tries to build on his British Grand Prix victory. Bezzecchi won at Silverstone this May, when he capitalised on Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo’s ride height device failing.

Martin can even help Bezzecchi overtake Ducati rival Francesco Bagnaia in the 2025 riders’ standings. Bezzecchi’s results since the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello in June have seen him out-score Bagnaia by 35 points, and move to within 31 for third place in the championship.
