Jorge Martin secured by far his best result of the MotoGP season so far at Balaton Park as he finished within seconds of the podium.
It has taken him a little time, but not much, to get up to speed with Aprilia’s RS-GP bike, and his race trim pace now looks strong.
Martin isn’t where he would like to be over one lap, but the more confidence he gets, the more he will be willing to push on a Saturday.
With his strong result at the Hungarian Grand Prix, he’s now inside the top 20 of the MotoGP standings for the first time this season.
Martin’s feedback inspired Aprilia’s Balaton Park result as they achieved the rare feat of having two riders in the top four. Not even Ducati could match that this week.
However, after getting some more laps under his belt, Martin has ‘realised’ Aprilia’s big ‘problem’ and is aware that there are some weaknesses to solve.

Jorge Martin delighted with Aprilia ‘immense’ work to find a ‘very good’ setup
Martin is facing ‘similar problems’ to Marco Bezzecchi so far this season, and the two must work better to lead their team in a better direction.
If the current rate of improvement is maintained, there is no reason why they won’t be able to contend for victory a few more times over the final eight races of the year.
Martin was at his ‘limit’ for Aprilia in the first race after the summer break, and has been working hard to bring himself back to full fitness.
And he left Balaton Park very happy that his team had found a sustainable setup solution, which should bode well for the future, according to SPEEDWEEK.
“Yes, the pace was also high in the second half, when I had free passage,” he said. “I think I can say that I have now arrived at Aprilia. We have now created a very good basic setup.
“The feeling for that is not yet at 100 percent, but it went up again – thanks to the immense work of Aprilia. For all of us, space is another great motivation.”

Why Jorge Martin will be happy with ‘perfect’ Aprilia solution
MotoGP’s return to Hungary for the first time in 33 years was a challenge for all riders, as they battled to learn a new track.
Fans have demanded MotoGP to change the ‘awful’ Balaton Park after a scary accident for Enea Bastianini, which could have turned out worse.
For someone in their third event since being away for half the season, Martin looked like he was having some normal struggles after qualifying 16th. His start was incredible on Sunday, though.
Martin will be happy with Aprilia’s ‘perfect’ solution, which has seen them have far better starts in 2025 and could have inspired his progress.
