Neil Hodgson gives his honest thoughts on Jack Miller staying at Pramac for the 2026 MotoGP season

Jack Miller has suffered a nightmare few MotoGP events after the summer break and hasn’t done much to consolidate his future beyond 2025.

Yamaha are yet to confirm whether they will be retaining him, or looking at alternatives potentially in Moto2.

It’s believed that a good idea for Pramac would be to have some experience around when the V4 bike replaces the M1 and needs some strong feedback.

Having competed for a plethora of MotoGP outfits, that would mean that Miller would be their number one candidate for next year’s ride, but heading into September, the Aussie still doesn’t know where he lies.

Yamaha have decided between Miller and Manuel Gonzalez, according to reports from Spain, but nothing public has been announced yet.

Just a few days ago, Yamaha were warned about a ‘worrying’ trend from someone they could sign for 2026. Their decision is bound to be made soon.

Neil Hodgson says it would ‘make sense’ for Jack Miller to stay at Pramac in 2026

Although he lies as low as 17th in the riders’ standings, Miller has been more impressive than factory Yamaha rider Alex Rins and teammate Miguel Oliveira in 2025.

Oliveira has ‘accepted’ his fate at Pramac and seems to realise that he’s not in the picture to be retained for next year. Toprak Razgatlioglu has claimed his seat.

But with debate still up in the air regarding the other seat, TNT Sports’ Neil Hodgson has given his thoughts on which direction he thinks Pramac should go in.

“For me, it would make sense. You need someone with V4 experience, and that’s what Jack has got,” he said.

Yamaha wanted a ‘textbook’ rider to replace Miller, but hiring a rookie could be a big risk and hurt their long-term development aspirations.

With Razgatlioglu joining them from World Superbikes, it would mean that they have two completely inexperienced riders to deal with. A slow start would become almost inevitable.

Where might Jack Miller go if he fails to land a MotoGP contract for 2026?

At the age of 30, Miller still has plenty of racing left in him. Marc Marquez is currently proving that on a factory Ducati by dominating the field.

Should Miller fail to land a ride for 2026, he could easily settle into a test role, but would he want to step away from a competitive environment altogether?

Luigi Dall’Igna ‘wouldn’t think twice’ about making Miller an offer to go and race for Ducati in the World Superbike Championship.

But with a family in Australia, it boils down to whether he wants to be spending so much time away from them, without competing at the highest level.
