Marc and Alex Marquez will not be the only brothers on the grid at the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend as the Espargaros will join them.

It has been confirmed that Aleix and Pol Espargaro will race this weekend as the Hungarian Grand Prix returns to the calendar at Balaton Park, the first MotoGP event to be held at the circuit.

Aleix Espargaro will stand in for LCR Honda rider Somkiat Chantra as the 26-year-old continues to struggle with injury. Suffering a torn collateral ligament in his right knee in a motocross accident, he has been on the sidelines since the German GP.

Pol Espargaro will replace Maverick Vinales at KTM Tech3 as he takes more time to recover from his dislocated shoulder at Sachsenring. The 30-year-old was set to race last time out at the Red Bull Ring, but withdrew from the event to further his recovery.

Aleix Espargaro’s three-word message to brother Pol as they reunite at the Hungarian Grand Prix

The Espargaros will race on track together for the first time since the 2024 San Marino Grand Prix. They have both made sporadic appearances in 2025 as Honda and KTM test riders respectively.

Aleix Espargaro made wildcard appearances at Jerez and Silverstone, finishing 17th in the former and retiring from the latter. Honda called him up to replace Luca Marini following his crash while testing for the Suzuka 8 Hour race at Assen, where he finished 16th.

Meanwhile, Pol Espargaro has made one appearance in MotoGP in 2025 as he replaced Vinales at Brno. The Spaniard had an impressive weekend as he finished ninth in the Sprint and the main race.

With one race, the 34-year-old has scored more points than full-time riders Miguel Oliveira and Chantra. He will be keen to have a strong weekend in Hungary as he reunites with brother Aleix, who has yet to put a point on the board for Honda.

Posting on his Instagram story as their entries were confirmed, Aleix Espargaro said: ‘Here we go’, followed by a fist bump emoji as he gets to share the track again with his younger brother.
