Ducati crew chief explains why Marc Marquez is ‘impossible’ to dislike despite ongoing boos in Italy

Marc Marquez is utterly dominating his way to a seventh MotoGP title in 2025, courtesy of an excellent Ducati bike.

The GP25 has been quick in his hands only, as teammate Francesco Bagnaia has faltered with the evolution of a bike he won 11 races on last season.

With nine races to go, Marquez has the opportunity to break many long-standing MotoGP records that he doesn’t already own.

All he has to do is remain consistent, and he should be able to lead Ducati to their fourth consecutive riders’ title.

Marquez revealed the shocking MotoGP wage he took to be able to ride a Ducati bike in 2024, with Gresini not having to pay him at all for his services.

Even Casey Stoner ‘really didn’t foresee’ what Marquez has done this season, and couldn’t have expected that he would dominate to the extent he has.

Marco Rigamonti says Marc Marquez is ‘impossible’ to dislike due to his passion for MotoGP

Marquez takes ‘special satisfaction’ in stopping Bagnaia around some of his best tracks. It’s a real dent to the two-time champion’s confidence.

Pedro Acosta thinks he could beat Marquez as long as he was on the same bike, but the deficit he faces at KTM means achieving that in 2025 is virtually impossible.

The 32-year-old’s new crew chief for this year is the experienced Marco Rigamonti, who has complemented the Spaniard in an interview with Diario AS.

“I think it’s hard not to fall in love with Márquez, even for those who have the opportunity to interview him.

“It’s hard not to fall in love with a driver like that, because he’s passionate about his job and puts his whole heart into it. It’s hard to say you don’t like Marc. It’s impossible.”

Which MotoGP records can Marc Marquez break before the end of 2025?

There are a few notable MotoGP records that Marquez stands a chance of achieving if he continues on his current vein of form for a few more months.

The closest of them is one of his own feats, achieved in 2014. With four more victories in a row, he will match his 11-year-old consecutive wins tally (10).

If he does that, then there’s a strong chance that at the same time, he breaks the record for the oldest champion in history by two years.

Valentino Rossi was 30 when he claimed the last of his titles in 2009, and it looks like Marquez will get the chance to beat that record once more next season.

It all depends on how much Ducati decide to change their bike over the winter in a bid to fix his teammate’s woes.
