One Ducati rider has been having a dream MotoGP season, while the other has faltered in 2025.

Luigi Dall’Igna has designed a bike that has been quick around virtually every circuit, both for the factory team and for their satellite operations.

Ducati’s dominance shows no signs of slowing down, with Marc Marquez currently on a run of five consecutive sprint and Grands Prix victories.

It has now been nearly five months since Francesco Bagnaia claimed his last victory, and the longer his run goes on, the more worrying his performances get.

Franco Morbidelli disagrees with Bagnaia and can’t see any differences between this and last year’s engine.

Halfway through the year, Marquez’s dominance ‘must be so hard’ for Bagnaia, who must have come into the year expecting to compete for a third MotoGP title.

Luigi Dall’Igna ’emphasised’ to Francesco Bagnaia ‘minimal’ Ducati differences for 2025

Less than 12 months ago, Ducati’s superstar rider fell short of another title by 10 points, despite winning eight more races than Jorge Martin.

The downturn in fortunes has left Bagnaia ‘really raging’ at Ducati, after having to accept that his new teammate was simply quicker than him.

Test rider Michele Pirro feels ‘sorry’ for Bagnaia and sympathises with his struggles. He believes that the Italian rider needs more help.

According to SPEEDWEEK, Ducati boss Dall’Igna entered the year telling his riders that their bikes would have ‘minimal’ differences.

“Even before the winter tests, I emphasised at our team presentation that the differences between the bikes would be minimal,” he said. “And that’s the case.

“We knew our situation with the GP24 and an exceptionally strong rider lineup for 2025 – so why should we take the risk?”

What should Francesco Bagnaia be aiming to do for the rest of the 2025 MotoGP season

At this stage, it’s quite clear that any lack of pace on Bagnaia’s end will be coming from something on the bike that he’s not comfortable with, but his teammate is.

It will have damaged his confidence too, which may take some time to recover when he is able to compete at the front again.

The only problem is that any mechanical issues may have to be seen to over the winter, making for a difficult final 10 races to close out the season.

Bagnaia was visibly furious with Ducati at the final race before the summer break, but will need to come back calmer and with his team on side if he wants to win again in 2025.
