Toprak Razgatlioglu is just a handful of months away from being able to make his official MotoGP debut.

The Turkish rider must compete in four more rounds of the World Superbike Championship with BMW, in a bid to wrap up a third title.

If Razgatlioglu can maintain his current form, no one will be able to stop him. With 11 wins in his last 12 races, he has dominated.

It’s an even more promising sign for Pramac, who will inherit a rider at the top of his game heading into the 2026 MotoGP season.

In preparation, Razgatlioglu has spoken to Marc Marquez in private phonecalls and admitted that he’s excited to get the chance to be dicing with him.

Marquez was slower than Razgatlioglu at Balaton Park in a test this week, with comparisons drawn to the latter’s pole position time from earlier this year, as MotoGP gears up to race there for the first ever time.

Toprak Razgatlioglu receives testing boost for 2026 MotoGP debut as BMW waive ‘restrictions’

Razgatlioglu is ‘sad’ he won’t race against Valentino Rossi, but he might have had the opportunity to if he had made his debut as young as Marquez did.

Rossi only retired in 2021, when Razgatlioglu was aged 25 (at the end of the season), which is a decent age for a rider.

After months of discussion, Yamaha have their ‘favourite’ to partner Razgatlioglu as they look to make a decision over Pramac’s second seat.

Now, GPOne reports that the 28-year-old’s current World Superbike team – BMW, will help him avoid any potential ‘restrictions’ and let him test for Pramac after their season ends in October.

Normally, they would be able to say that he has a contract and thus shouldn’t be allowed to ride, but they have a good partnership with him, and it means that he will rock up to the post-season test in Valencia better prepared than he might have been.

Why Toprak Razgatlioglu may be joining MotoGP at the perfect time

Judging by his form over the last few seasons, Razgatlioglu might be in the prime of his career at the moment.

He has a lot to adjust to next season, such as the very different braking on a MotoGP bike, but if he can learn quickly, he could be right up there with Fabio Quartararo on pace.

Razgatlioglu doesn’t have a chance of Yamaha promotion because the satellite Pramac team effectively runs a factory operation anyway.

It allows him to focus on riding over his future next year, with one year to become accustomed to the new paddock before some significant regulations changes for 2027.
