Brad Binder pinpoints the ‘huge’ KTM problem he faced that ruined his Czech Grand Prix

Brad Binder’s frustrating MotoGP season was elevated to new heights at the Czech Grand Prix as his teammate managed to score a double podium.

Pedro Acosta was impressive all weekend, while Binder never looked comfortable around the Brno circuit, despite being the last winner of the race in 2020.

The South African rider finished eighth, but was some 17 seconds behind eventual winner Marc Marquez at the flag.

KTM have made some inroads over the last few events, but still have a lot of work to do before they can challenge the likes of Ducati and Aprilia at every track.

Binder made a brutally honest admission about his career and thought that things would end up looking a lot different after he claimed his first MotoGP victory.

Neil Hodgson revealed a ‘strange’ KTM message to Binder about his strategy and couldn’t understand their thinking at the final race before the summer break. The Czech Grand Prix was one to forget for the 29-year-old.

Brad Binder faced a ‘huge’ braking problem for KTM at the Czech Grand Prix

Binder has adopted a different approach to Acosta in a bid to bridge the gap between himself and his less experienced teammate.

The Spaniard will have received a real confidence boost by earning his first podium of 2025 at Brno. He has had to wait a long time for it.

Binder has dealt with an ‘absolutely impossible’ problem in 2025 and he will be hoping that the work he has put in to improve pays off next season.

Speaking about his race with SPEEDWEEK, he admitted that things were ‘bad’ for him under braking, and that it was a ‘huge’ issue.

“The big topic was braking,” he said. “I lost a huge amount of time on the deceleration and into the curves. I was just bad there – and how is it supposed to work to overtake someone?

“This is something we need to look at, also based on the information from Pedro and Enea, who really had an amazing pace.”

How much more has Brad Binder struggled in 2025 compared to 2024?

Binder went almost the entire season in 2024 without scoring a podium, doing so only at the season-opener in Qatar.

He did go on to finish all but three races in the top 10, and that consistency helped him to 5th in the riders’ standings.

This year, he just hasn’t been able to replicate that sort of form, and his best finish of the year is currently a sixth, which he earned in Jerez. It’s part of the reason why he’s only 12th in the championship.

Unless he can find some solid improvements, his ride could be at risk heading into 2027 when the new regulations are set to arrive. Pressure will start to mount.
