What Alex Marquez told Marc Marquez ‘every day’ before he left Gresini to join Ducati factory squad

Marc Marquez has enjoyed one of the most dominant MotoGP seasons of all time in 2025 and shows no signs of slowing down.

After the summer break, he will smash the record for the most points scored in a season, before likely becoming the oldest champion in the sport’s history, beating Valentino Rossi by two years.

Marquez has been patient since he won his last title in 2019. He has battled injuries, a poor Honda bike and faced the challenge of joining a new manufacturer before reaching the top again.

While there’s still a lot of work for himself and Ducati to do this season, his turnaround has been blinding, and his rivals have no answer for it.

Alex Marquez knows the ‘key’ to beating Marc and is set on keeping as consistent as possible and waiting for his brother to make mistakes.

After a torrid time on the other side of the garage, even teammate Francesco Bagnaia is ‘no match’ for Marquez. He hasn’t been able to use his experience and speed to cut the deficit at all.

Alex Marquez told Marc Marquez ‘every day’ that he would dominate with Ducati in 2025

Marquez has fought secret Ducati ‘demons’ in 2025 and has had to restrain the instincts that would otherwise push him beyond the limit.

His advantage at the front is sometimes so great that even when he has no need to push hard, having the potential to can be a hard urge to fight.

Marquez ignored a Luigi Dall’Igna warning before taking pole position at the German Grand Prix. The Spaniard was prepared to attack.

German Garcia Casanova reports that Alex told Marc the same thing ‘every day’ in advance of joining the factory Ducati team for 2025.

“He said no, that he wouldn’t [have guessed he could dominate], but that his brother would and that his brother kept repeating it to him,” he said.

“His brother Alex kept repeating it to him every day and that in the end, what Alex said is happening is a bit like that.”

How many points Marc Marquez needs to break another MotoGP record

Another record Marquez’s arch rival Rossi holds is the highest percentage of points achieved in a season.

Back in 2003, he scored 89.25% of the points on offer that season, and it could end up being beaten in 2025.

It would require quite the effort, and the landmark number for Marquez to reach this year is 727 points.

He’s currently on 344, but did crash twice at COTA and Jerez. Eliminating those mistakes altogether would give him a better chance of achieving the 383 points required to beat Rossi.

With 407 left on offer, it requires almost perfection, but as he has shown various times this season, he could easily do it.
