Marc Marquez’s crew chief pinpoints the one thing he must do to become utterly ‘unbeatable’ at Ducati

Marc Marquez’s dominance at the Grand Prix of Aragon has given him a comfortable lead at the top of the MotoGP standings.

The Spaniard has been relishing life on the GP25 at Ducati. After eight rounds and 16 races in 2025, Marquez has already claimed 11 wins and five pole positions.

Topping every session at the Aragon Grand Prix, the 32-year-old claimed his seventh victory at the circuit in commanding fashion, beating brother Alex and Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

His victory puts him 32 points ahead of Alex Marquez heading into the next round at Mugello. Kevin Schwantz says Marc Marquez is making MotoGP ‘boring’ with his dominance – he is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Johann Zarco summed up how every rider feels as he could not understand how Marquez was so fast at Aragon. But despite his dominance, Marquez’s crew chief thinks he can be utterly ‘unbeatable’ if he can make one improvement.

Marquez is renowned for his strength through left-hand turns. However, right-handers have been a problem for the six-time MotoGP champion since he broke his right arm in a crash at Jerez in 2020.

Brother Alex says he is ‘faster’ than Marc in right-handers due to his injury. While the 32-year-old has made a full recovery, he struggles to extract as much performance through those turns as he does in left-handers.

But the Ducati rider is working hard to gain that feeling. Neil Hodgson thinks Marquez solved the ‘post-injury problem’ at Aragon, as he noticed the Spaniard was more comfortable than ever in the right-hand corners.

But crew chief Marco Rigamonti thinks he has more work to do. Speaking with Mundo Deportivo, he says Marquez would be ‘unbeatable’ if he could handle right turns like he does with the left.

Let’s say where he struggles a bit more, from a driver’s point of view, is with right turns. He said that after his arm injury, he’s a little worse at that; he’s always struggled, but now he’s a little worse. If he could handle right turns like he did with the left, he’d be unbeatable,” he said.

Could Marc Marquez soon face pressure from Francesco Bagnaia after testing breakthrough?

While Marquez already looks unstoppable in 2025, the season is far from over, with 14 rounds still to run. After the latest test at Aragon, teammate Bagnaia may have made a breakthrough with the GP25.

The Italian has been struggling all season to find any feeling from the bike. In Aragon, after a miserable showing in the Sprint with P12, Bagnaia ‘significantly’ changed the brake discs, which improved stability at the front of the bike.

Subsequently, the 28-year-old has found some confidence, finishing third in the Grand Prix and having a positive test on Monday. Bagnaia has stopped complaining about the GP25; he may have found the answer to his woes.

While he does sit 93 points behind his teammate, his latest improvement has come at a perfect time, with more favoured tracks coming up, giving him the chance to close the gap. Valentino Rossi has been told to give Bagnaia a ‘£100k bonus’ if he beats Marquez at Mugello.
