Jack Miller reveals the frustrating moment he ‘messed up’ for Pramac during the 2025 MotoGP season

Jack Miller’s MotoGP future may be hanging by a thread as he fights to keep his career going beyond the 2025 season.

The Aussie, who sits 16th in the riders’ championship, is somehow Yamaha’s second-highest placed rider after seven rounds of the calendar.

His most impressive result for Pramac has been a fifth place, scored in mixed conditions at a crazy Grand Prix of Americas.

Miller’s one-year deal is up at the end of the year, and with rumours that Toprak Razgatlioglu has signed for Pramac in 2026, he needs to produce some top form if he wants to hang around.

He has plenty left to give on a bike at the age of 30. Miller did something ‘never thought possible’ and is starting to get really comfortable with the Yamaha M1. Results should come soon.

Jack Miller admits he ‘messed up’ for Pramac in French Grand Prix crash

It’s pretty well known who seems to exceed expectations any time a tricky band of weather arrives at a MotoGP circuit.

Miller is one of those riders, but this year, he has already missed out on one huge opportunity to win a race at the French Grand Prix.

At one stage, he was ahead of eventual winner Johann Zarco on the same strategy, before crashing and seeing his hopes of reaching the top step dashed.

“I had a victory in my hand,” he told Speedweek. “I messed up. I was 14 seconds ahead of Johann. During the ride, you calculate where you are and where you could land.

“I saw him on the TV screens and knew what that would mean to me. In turn 13, I already had a second of fright the lap before and knew I had to back down – but then it was over in a fraction of a second. You slide on the floor and think: ‘Next year…'”

It was a gutting result for one of the most popular figures in the sport. Even after Pramac were forced to make ‘big changes’ for 2025 by changing bike supplier, their results will eventually get there.

Why Jack Miller stands a good chance of remaining with Pramac for 2026

With Pramac yet to make a public announcement on their riders for 2026, there’s still a good chance that Miller will be able to hang around for them in the future.

Pramac want to avoid a ‘very unfair’ decision on Miguel Oliveira, who has been injured for much of the season, and wants to see what he can do before signing anyone up.

But they have the raw data and can tell pretty easily whether either of them are up to the job of being a dependent rider.

Miller knows Pramac’s stance on Razgatlioglu, and now it’s up to him to race his heart out on track and prove that he deserves a ride next to him.
