The 2025 MotoGP riders’ championship is starting to take shape after seven rounds, with some riders faring significantly better than others.
Marc Marquez is dominating with Ducati in 2025, collecting nine wins, including Sprint races, as he leads the championship over brother Alex by 24 points.
Marquez’s Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia is struggling to adapt to the GP25, offering little competition to riders on the year-old GP24. He is already 72 points behind in third after crashing out of the British Grand Prix.
Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo has been Ducati’s closest challenger on Saturday, grabbing pole position in the last three races. However, the Frenchman has been unable to capitalise on Sunday, with Quartararo suffering a heartbreaking retirement at Silverstone with a ride height device failure.
Johann Zarco and Marco Bezzecchi have been 2025’s non-Ducati winners so far for LCR Honda and Aprilia respectively. The former won at Le Mans and finished second at Silverstone; Zarco is taking advantage of Honda’s newfound form, unlike factory rider Joan Mir.

Joan Mir says he is ‘feeling great’ on his 2025 Honda despite constantly crashing
It has been a frustrating spell at Honda for the Spaniard, who has scored just 47 points in the last two seasons for the Japanese outfit.
His form in 2025 has been no better, with Mir retiring from five of the seven races thus far as he constantly falls from his RC213V. Mir was desperate to reach Q2 at Silverstone, but ultimately came up short as he could only manage 13th behind Zarco and teammate Luca Marini.
The 2020 MotoGP champion salvaged 10th in the race for his second points finish of the season. Despite his constant crashes in 2025, Mir insists that he is ‘feeling great’ on the bike.
Asked whether his poor results on Sunday were down to a lack of feeling, he told Crash: “No it’s just bad luck, I would say. I mean, I don’t want to think so much about it because I don’t change so much.
“Just the bad luck that we have this season and the previous ones. I mean I feel very strong, I feel, this year especially, feeling great riding the bike, constantly being inside the reference of here, inside of Honda.
“But for some reason on the races, we couldn’t match a good result together, that’s the reality at the moment.”

Is Joan Mir’s future with Honda in doubt for 2026?
Mir’s crashes in 2025 have cost him dearly. After seven races, he has scored just eight points more than test rider Takaaki Nakagami, who finished sixth as a wildcard entry at Le Mans.
Teammate Marini is the only rider to have scored points in every race thus far, but that streak will end as the Italian is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a test crash for the Suzuka 8 Hour race.
Mir will be desperate to improve his form as his future with Honda is uncertain. Despite having a contract until 2026, Jorge Martin’s links to Honda put his position under threat.
Honda have offered Mir to LCR as they assess their options for 2026. Martin and Pedro Acosta could both join Honda next season, with the MotoGP rider market set to see significant movement in the next few months.
