Marc Marquez has set a new record for taking consecutive MotoGP Sprint Race wins after the Ducati rider sealed his sixth in a row at the French Grand Prix this Saturday.

No rival rider has so far proved able to thwart Marquez in a Sprint to start the 2025 MotoGP season. The 32-year-old’s victory at Le Mans this Saturday afternoon ensured he continues to have a 100% run in the shortened race since Marquez joined Ducati ahead of this season.

His sixth Sprint win in succession also edged the Cervera native back to the top of the riders’ championship by two points over his brother, Alex Marquez of Gresini. The six-time premier class champion also now has a 31-point lead over his Ducati teammate Francesco Bagnaia.

Dani Pedrosa thinks Marc Marquez makes MotoGP look ‘very easy’ after winning the Le Mans Sprint

Bagnaia crashed out of the Le Mans Sprint to record the Italian’s first retirement of the term. Alex Marquez, meanwhile, came second in a Sprint for the sixth time in a row after following his brother Marc home. Rookie Fermin Aldeguer scored his first podium in MotoGP with P3.

Just 0.530 seconds separated the Marquez brothers in the Sprint at the French GP, but Marc was never at risk of losing the lead to Alex. He cruised to glory after Marc Marquez overtook Fabio Quartararo to lead the Le Mans Sprint, and eased off on his run to the chequered flag.

The dominance the Ducati rider showed at Le Mans this Saturday also showed Dani Pedrosa how Marquez is making MotoGP look ‘very easy’. Even if it is a view that the Spaniard knows his former Honda teammate ‘does not like’ to hear as Marquez eyes a seventh MotoGP title.

Pedrosa said on DAZN: “I know Marc doesn’t like what I’m about to say, but he makes it very easy. He makes it very easy, it’s clear. We’re in a world championship [and] there are a lot of races [but] he makes it easy.”

Marquez now has the third-most Sprint Race wins to date with seven, having only taken one before moving to Ducati. The Spaniard won his first Sprint at the 2024 Aragon Grand Prix for Gresini, which was also Marquez’s first race win of any kind on a Ducati after leaving Honda.

Only 2024 riders’ champion Jorge Martin (16) and Bagnaia (11) have won more Sprint Races than Marquez to date. Yet Martin took his first Sprint win at the 2023 French GP for Pramac and Bagnaia recorded his first Sprint win back at the 2023 Portuguese Grand Prix for Ducati.

The trio are even in a class of their own compared to the other riders who have won a Sprint Race. Brad Binder, Enea Bastianini, Aleix Espargaro, Alex Marquez and Maverick Vinales hold two Sprint wins and Marco Bezzecchi is the only rider with a single Sprint win to their name.
