Jorge Martin will wince when he hears what Fabio Di Giannantonio said about injury recovery at Qatar Grand Prix

Jorge Martin’s MotoGP return should hand Aprilia a much-needed boost ahead of the Grand Prix of Qatar.

The Italian manufacturer have struggled to produce anything of particular note this season, with satellite star Ai Ogura grabbing most of the headlines for Trackhouse Racing with Martin sidelined.

Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori has only been able to trundle around at the back of the pack, effectively wasting an entry. He has only been able to gather bits of data.

Marco Bezzecchi has scored two sixth places and retired on the first lap in Argentina. There’s definitely some potential in their bike.

Having the reigning champion should help unlock some more speed. Martin could be exposed at the Qatar Grand Prix if he is not truly ready to return. There are some heavy braking points.

Martin did something not seen in ‘years’ and seemed far more relaxed ahead of making his official debut for his new team. He seems to be in a good environment.

Fabio Di Giannantonio’s words on MotoGP ‘pain’ serve as Qatar Grand Prix warning to Jorge Martin

Another rider who sustained a brutal pre-season injury was Fabio Di Giannantonio, who attempted a wheelie in Sepang and broke his collarbone.

He managed to recover in time for the Grand Prix of Thailand, where he managed 10th place. Di Giannantonio was stopped from testing sooner over fears he may not heal properly.

The Italian rider’s words about pain are a warning to Martin as he gears up to get back on a bike. He may have to expect some discomfort.

“Even if you ride above the pain, you always expect it to come by making a movement and therefore you can’t ride naturally,” Di Giannantonio told GPOne.

“Even the movements you make on the bike are a little slower because they have to be more controlled. Without pain, however, you only do what is necessary to go faster.”

Marco Bezzecchi’s brutally honest assessment of Aprilia relationship with Jorge Martin

The reigning champion has moved from the dominant Ducati bike to an Aprilia during the off-season and is now expected to make his debut with virtually no preparation.

It’s a task of massive proportions, and simply competing in the midfield should be considered a success this weekend.

With a new team comes a new teammate. Martin is familiar with Bezzecchi having shared the grid with him for three years.

Bezzecchi was brutally honest about his Martin relationship and admitted that he wouldn’t go to dinner with the Spaniard.

The two clashed during their Moto2 and Moto3 days, but appear to be able to work well enough together to bring some more success to their current team.
