Raul Fernandez heads to the 2025 Grand Prix of the Americas still trying to kick the Trackhouse Racing rider’s season into gear having been overshadowed by Ai Ogura.
Ogura has so far stolen the spotlight at Trackhouse from Fernandez, with the rookie also the top Aprilia pilot after the opening two rounds. Despite being disqualified from the Argentina Grand Prix due to a technical irregularity, Ogura ranks eighth in the standings with 18 points.
Trackhouse have not yet seen the same competitiveness from Fernandez, who came 15th at Termas for the Spaniard’s first point this season only after his teammate’s DSQ. Ogura rose from P15 to finish in eighth, but lost the eight points due to non-homologated ECU software.

Davide Brivio backs Raul Fernandez to show ‘good potential’ at the Americas Grand Prix
Fernandez also began the term on the backfoot after fracturing a metacarpal in his left hand and the little toe on his left foot at the Sepang Test this February. He required surgery on his hand, and his foot injury meant Fernandez could not ride Trackhouse’s Aprilia bike naturally.
But the Argentina GP offered Trackhouse team director Davide Brivio reason to be optimistic that Fernandez can start to show his potential at the Americas GP. While the 24-year-old did not match Ogura’s pace, Brivio feels Fernandez and Trackhouse found a platform to build on.

“We think we can get out some good potential for [Raul] after we found some good settings [and] a good feeling for him on Sunday in Argentina,” Brivio said, via quotes by Crash. “And now we will try all our best to put everything into the race during the Americas GP.”
Raul Fernandez must build on the base Trackhouse found in Argentina to match Ai Ogura
The Argentina GP weekend did not start well for Fernandez as Ogura led Trackhouse’s bid from the off. Even Neil Hodgson was baffled at Fernandez’s lack of pace around Termas with Ogura able to lap the track around one second faster than his more experienced teammate.

Fernandez continued to be in Ogura’s shadow through qualifying with a 0.411-second deficit before finishing behind the rookie in the Sprint in P15 and P16. The positive signs Brivio saw in the feature race were also still not enough for Fernandez to score a point purely on merit.
So, while Brivio predicts more for Fernandez in the Americas GP, the Spaniard will be hoping to build on what Trackhouse found at Termas to get his season going. Fernandez could also look back on last year’s meet at COTA after taking P9 in the Sprint and P10 in the main race.
