Ai Ogura was one of the standout riders in the 2025 MotoGP season opener in Thailand. He will look to carry the momentum into the Argentine Grand Prix.
While Marc Marquez dominated in Buriram for Ducati, Ogura made a serious impression. The Trackhouse rider finished an astonishing fourth in the Sprint and fifth in the main race.

The highest-placed rookie in the field, Ogura left fans and pundits stunned with his performance. Not many would have expected him to battle the Ducatis at the front in his debut weekend in the premier class.
The Japanese rider fought closely with the frontrunners all weekend, including multiple world champions. Ogura learned from battling Francesco Bagnaia how to be smooth on track and minimise mistakes.
Heading into the Argentine Grand Prix, the 24-year-old will be looking to produce another stunning performance for Trackhouse.
Davide Brivio congratulated Ogura on his display in Thailand. But the Japanese rider’s team manager has issued a warning ahead of the race at Termas.

Davide Brivio warns Ai Ogura there will be ‘bad races’ in 2025 after Thailand display
Speaking via The Race MotoGP YouTube channel, Brivio stressed after the Thailand Grand Prix that Ogura will have ‘difficult times’ in 2025.
While he cannot expect to always be at the front, the Trackhouse rider’s performances already shows ‘there is talent’.
“It will not always be like that. We know there will be up and down, there will be difficult times, there will be bad races,” said Brivio.
“But I think what’s happening in qualifying and the race, it shows that, I mean, that is substance, OK? That is a meat, I don’t know how to express in English!
“But it means there is something, there is talent, there is abilities and now we have to work on this diamond and try to…
“As I say we will have difficult times, we don’t expect to be every race there. But it means that we can do a very good job and we have to try now to do the job and use this potential.”

Eugene Laverty left stunned by ‘incredible’ Ai Ogura trait in Thailand
Of course, the 24-year-old is far from the finished product in MotoGP. Ogura is still struggling with a language barrier at Trackhouse.
But that issue can be resolved, as well as fine-tuning certain elements of his racecraft throughout the season. Ogura found it difficult to get accustomed to the brakes of his RS-GP25 during pre-season.
Early signs are encouraging for Trackhouse and also Aprilia. The manufacturer can now rest assured that Ogura can produce some top results in Jorge Martin’s absence.
Eugene Laverty lauded Ogura’s ‘incredible’ trait of throwing it up the field in Buriram. The 24-year-old will look to get amongst the frontrunners again in Argentina.
