Honda rider Luca Marini’s life outside of MotoGP from net worth to half-brother

Add as preferred source on Google

Luca Marini is an Italian motorcycle racer and half-brother of MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi, so here is everything you need to know about him.

Having started out in the Italian CIV series, he ended the 2010 CIV Moto3 championship in fourth with six podium finishes. After moving to the Spanish CEV Moto3 series in 2014, he would go on to make his debut in the Moto2 European Championship in 2015.

Marini took second place in just his third race in Moto2, going on to finish fifth overall in the rider standings after being a regular top-five contender. In 2016 he made his full-time World Championship debut with Forward Racing alongside Lorenzo Baldassarri, a fellow VR46 Academy rider.

It would take another two years before Marini would achieve his first podium in Germany racing for Sky Racing Team VR46, before going on to win his first race in Malaysia the same year.

In 2020, Marini would become a contender for the title with Enea Bastianini and Sam Lowes. After claiming a few podiums early on in the campaign, he would go on to win two races in Spain and Austria. An accident in Aragon and wins for Lowes in the following three rounds would mean that Marini would finish the 2020 season runner-up on just 196 points, nine points off eventual winner Bastianini.

Luca Marini makes MotoGP switch and replaces Marc Marquez at Honda

Marini made the switch to MotoGP in 2021 with Sky VR46 racing and found his first season tough, although he would achieve a front-row start at his home race in Misano and a top-five finish in Austria.

In 2022, the Italian showed great consistency by finishing inside the top six places on seven occasions, although he missed out on scoring his first podium. This would come in 2023 when Marini stood on the podium for the first time at the Americas GP, before achieving the same feat at the Qatar GP.

For the 2024 season, he would be chosen to replace Marc Marquez at Honda. A solid year of adapting to the Honda RC213V will see Marini aim for regular podiums and potentially his first win in 2025 with the factory Japanese team.
