Marc Marquez has enjoyed an excellent start to the 2025 MotoGP season and looks like a true force to be reckoned with after joining Ducati’s factory outfit.

After spending one year with Gresini alongside brother Alex Marquez, he received a promotion to partner Francesco Bagnaia.

Marquez managed three victories on a one-year-old Ducati GP23 bike in 2024 and assured fans that he has still got what it takes to win.

The new MotoGP campaign kicks off next weekend, with the Buriram circuit set to host the season-opening Grand Prix of Thailand.

Davide Tardozzi revealed Marquez wasn’t pushing during testing and still managed to top the times on the final day of running in Thailand.

It’s an ominous sign for his rivals, including Bagnaia, who apologised for being a liar over Ducati’s 2025 engine before they made the decision to stick with their old parts for the next two years. He can put the two-time champion under real pressure this season.

Marc Marquez told brother Alex to ‘be careful’ after MotoGP testing

The Marquez brothers occupied the top two positions on the timesheets on the second and final day in Buriram, where the season-opener will be held.

It’s a good omen for them and suggests that if they can repeat that sort of form then they could be competing for race victories against each other this year.

Marquez may already be playing mind games with Bagnaia as he hunts a seventh riders’ championship and a first since 2019.

Speaking to Diario AS, he mentioned that he warned his brother to be careful after pre-season testing where his pace looked promising.

“There have been three training sessions, in Catalonia and Malaysia he and I led in Thailand, and there I told him: ‘Hey, be careful!’ [laughs]”.

Ducati source used five words to describe Marc Marquez’s devastating Buriram test race run

The Buriram test was a busy two-day period for teams who were able to get their first real representative running in race-like conditions of the season.

A Ducati source had five words for Marquez’s devastating Ducati race run with the paddock consensus being that he will probably win the first race.

Teammate Bagnaia has work to do and seems a little bit further behind currently as pressure ramps up on the Italian.

He hasn’t had such a formidable partner during his time at the team, and he now must prove that he can do it against one of the greatest of all time.

Marquez says his critics are completely wrong when they suggest that he cannot set up a MotoGP bike – something which will be proven within a matter of weeks at the factory Ducati team.
