Aleix Espargaro sends three-word rallying cry to Jorge Martin after Aprilia recovery update

Jorge Martin’s mega highside at MotoGP’s Sepang pre-season test left Aprilia on the back foot just hours into officially starting their 2025 campaign.

The reigning champion kicked off his tenure with Aprilia by suffering two incidents on the first morning of running on his new bike, the second of which left him seriously injured.

After suffering fractures to multiple bones, Martin required surgery and was forced to sit out of pretty much all of the Sepang test, as well as two days of running at Buriram.

Martin’s Aprilia return date might shock his rivals as the Spaniard is aiming to be ready in time for the season-opening Grand Prix of Thailand at the end of the month.

It would be an incredible turnaround to make the first race of the MotoGP season just weeks on from such a heavy accident.

Martin was told he was asking for trouble before his Aprilia crash by running the medium tyres rather than the soft compound early on.

Aleix Espergaro rallies behind Jorge Martin recovery after crash with three-word message

Leaving Ducati’s bike, which won 90% of the races on offer last season was a big move for the reigning champion to be making.

After a terrific season with Pramac, he was snubbed for a promotion to the Italian manufacturer’s factory team in favour of six-time champion Marc Marquez.

He found a new home at his own factory outfit in Aprilia, but there’s a lot of work to do before they can be considered championship contenders.

Martin may have a ‘get-out-of-jail-free card’ after his Malaysia crash and can blame any slow start he has on the repercussions of his incident.

He replaced fellow compatriot Aleix Espargaro at Aprilia for 2025 after he confirmed his retirement from racing at the end of last season.

Now Espargaro has sent Martin a message on Instagram in an attempt to motivate him further during his recovery.

Jorge Martin warned about Marco Bezzecchi after positive Aprilia work

As a result of his crash, a lot of the workload at Aprilia shifted to Marco Bezzecchi, who coped incredibly well with what he was handed.

He lapped impressively and gathered a lot of data for the team which will be handy for them when searching for a quick setup on the first day of running in Thailand.

Massimo Rivola has warned the ‘suffering’ Martin about Bezzecchi and believes that the Italian rider will end up being tough to beat.

With 60 races under his belt, he has plenty of experience and should know how to get the maximum out of his bike.

While Martin isn’t fully fit, he has a great chance to stamp his authority down over him and place some pressure on the 27-year-old.
