Preparations for the 2025 MotoGP season are well underway. The official test in Sepang gives the full-time riders their first chance to run their challengers this season.
MotoGP held a shakedown session in Malaysia last week as bikes hit the track for the first time after a lengthy winter break.
Now, the 2025 riders get their chance to test this year’s machines in the official test running from February 5-7. However, some teams are at an advantage compared to others.
Under MotoGP’s concession system, Honda and Yamaha – who were the bottom two manufacturers in the championship in 2024 – were allowed to run their full-time riders alongside their test riders in the shakedown.
| Pos. | Constructor | Points |
| 1 | Ducati | 722 |
| 2 | KTM | 327 |
| 3 | Aprilia | 302 |
| 4 | Honda | 124 |
| 5 | Yamaha | 75 |
The aim is to bridge the gap between the front and the back of the field. Ducati won all but one race in 2024 while Honda scored just 75 points all season.
The test in Malaysia will be vital for the teams and manufacturers to gather data and make alterations to fix any limitations they may see. And one team has already made a noticeable change to their bikes in Sepang.

Trackhouse Racing have changed their 2025 livery in Sepang test
Trackhouse Racing are entering their second season in the premier class in 2024. The Aprilia satellite team scored 141 points last year through riders Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira.
The former has remained with the team for 2025 while the latter has joined Pramac as they move from Ducati to Yamaha. Moto2 champion Ai Ogura has joined Trackhouse for his rookie season in MotoGP.
After finishing ninth in the teams’ standings last season – only beating the two Honda teams – the American outfit will be looking to improve in 2025.

A key change for Trackhouse this year is a new livery. They have moved away from the American flag-style design and gone for a radical blue and yellow colour for their RS-GP25.
MotoGP fans accused Trackhosue of copying Suzuki’s old design, with many feeling unimpressed with the 2025 look. And it appears the team have listened as their livery has been changed for the Sepang test.
While it still sports the blue and yellow colours, there is a lot more black, with the Trackhouse logo appearing on the side of the RS-GP25 in bright yellow.
The changes were seen by journalist Simon Patterson, who wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “The Trackhouse Aprilia has changed colours since the team launch (and it’s much prettier now!)”
What rival teams are now saying about Ai Ogura after his first MotoGP laps
Trackhouse’s Ogura is one of three rookies on the grid in 2025 alongside Fermin Aldeguer and Somkiat Chantra. But the Japanese rider is attracting the most attention.
Ogura was the only rider to complete a race simulation in the shakedown in Malaysia. This is highly impressive given it is his first session in the premier class.
The 24-year-old was fourth overall in the shakedown, fourth tenths off of table topper and 2021 MotoGP champion Fabio Quartararo.
Ogura impressed rival teams in the paddock with his efforts. The Moto2 champion will be looking to make an impact in 2025 with Trackhouse.
Teammate Fernandez will be under pressure from the other side of the garage. The Spaniard scored 66 points last season – his best to date in MotoGP.
