MotoGP fans are all fuming about one thing after KTM and Tech3 reveal their 2025 bikes

KTM have built a strong rider line-up for the 2025 MotoGP season at their factory and satellite Tech3 teams.

Sensation Pedro Acosta has moved to the factory KTM team to partner with Brad Binder for 2025. The Spaniard finished sixth in the standings with five podiums in an incredible rookie year last season.

Acosta’s success proved ‘dangerous’ for KTM as his performances attracted interest from their rivals. Teams up and down the paddock will certainly be keeping tabs on the 20-year-old.

Satellite squad Tech3 have also recruited strongly in 2025. Respective Aprilia and Ducati factory riders Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini have joined the team.

All four KTM riders have signed factory contracts that keep them on board until the end of 2026. Acosta may have convinced Vinales to join KTM as the 30-year-old wants to prove he can be as successful as his fellow Spaniard was in 2024.

MotoGP fans fume over how similar the KTM and Tech3 liveries are in 2025

KTM and Tech3 unveiled their 2025 challengers on Thursday. All four RC16s sport the striking orange colour of the company as well as the Red Bull colours as the primary sponsor.

The similarities between the two teams’ liveries have caused uproar on social media. Fans took to KTM’s Instagram account to vent their frustrations at how the bikes are almost identical.

One fan wrote: “No difference between factory and satellite team? or all factory now”, while another echoed the same thoughts: “4 same livery no different”.

One Italian fan wrote: “But it’s official 4 KTM”, while an Indonesian fan noticed the similarity as they said: “All manufacturing teams”.

One user noticed the teams’ striking main sponsor on the bikes as they said: “Damn that looks like you have 4 redbull on track”, while another took to X (formerly Twitter) to say that: “It’s not going to be easy to recognize the riders”.

Why do KTM and Tech3 have similar MotoGP liveries?

Like in F1, it is not uncommon for MotoGP teams to run similar liveries in the lower categories. KTM run similar designs in Moto2 and Moto3 – much like Red Bull in F2 and F3.

The key reason for Tech3 having a similar livery to KTM in 2025 is that they will no longer run in the red colours of GASGAS. This is because CEO Pit Beirer wanted to have four factory riders.

Speaking with Crash.net about the change, he said: “It will be all in orange, because our dream is still four factory riders. And not saying ‘OK, it’s this garage or that garage’. Our ultimate goal is that the riders wouldn’t really care which of the four places they would pick.

“With Herve, we have a fantastic partner where we have full trust, like it’s one of us. So for us it’s not ‘his team, our team’

“Pedro helped us a lot to also show the potential of our Tech3 operation. That it’s a full factory operation. That you get the chance there to fully perform. So I’m sure without Pedro, also maybe we could not make or couldn’t convince the other two boys [Vinales and Bastianini] to go in that direction.”
