The 2025 MotoGP season will see a crossover with Formula 1 as Pramac Racing announce a new partnership with Alpine.

The Tuscany-based outfit come into 2025 off the back of winning the Rider’s Championship with Jorge Martin. The Spaniard is the first independent team rider since 2001 to win the title as he took his Ducati machine to glory over Francesco Bagnaia.

But this season, Pramac will embark on a new era. The team made the unprecedented decision to leave Ducati in 2024 to reunite with Yamaha.

Bagnaia thinks Pramac will be a ‘big loss’ for Ducati as they will struggle to have the same dominance with six bikes instead of eight. It is also likely Pramac will find it difficult with Yamaha machinery considering they were only ahead of Honda in the constructors’ standings in 2024.

Pramac will field an all-new rider line-up as Jack Miller joins the team from KTM. Miguel Oliveira will team up with the Aussie after moving from the satellite Aprilia team Trackhouse.

As well as a new manufacturer and rider pairing, Pramac have entered an agreement with Alpine. The French company will be the team’s ‘main partner’ from 2025.

MotoGP fans predict Jack Doohan to move to the championship amid Pramac’s deal with Alpine

The deal will see Alpine share the spotlight alongside Pramac’s existing title sponsor Prima. The announcement was made on Monday, four days ahead of their 2025 bike launch.

Alpine’s involvement in MotoGP has led fans to speculate if under pressure F1 driver Jack Doohan could move to the championship. The Aussie is at risk of losing his seat following the arrival of Franco Colapinto and with his contract only being for six races, he could be out of the sport before getting a full season.

Multiple fans took to the comments of Pramac’s Instagram post as they wondered if Doohan could trade four wheels for two. The 21-year-old has great ties to MotoGP with his father Mick Doohan being a five-time 500cc Grand Prix champion.

One fan wrote: “Jack Doohan moto go transfer?” with three cry-laughing emojis, while another responded to this comment saying: “Imagine if he really being drop by alpine, and race with Yamaha Pramac.

Several fans picked up on the fact Pramac could have two Australian riders in their line-up of Doohan was to move to MotoGP. One user said: “Jack Miller × Jack Doohan”.

Another simply said: “2 Aussies”, while one is: “Expecting Jack² content this year”. Finally, one fan went for another Alpine F1 driver as they said: “Colapinto to Pramac, here we go”.

Given the performance of the YZR-M1, it is unlikely Pramac will repeat the success they had with Martin and Ducati in 2025.

Fabio Quartararo registered Yamaha’s best finish of sixth in Malaysia last season. Yamaha are already facing a ‘massive challenge ahead of 2025 in developing two engines at once for 2025 as they continue to use the inline-four whilst also developing the V4 engine.

Having four bikes on the grid instead of two will be a positive. But Miller and Oliveira will be under pressure to perform after difficult seasons at KTM and Trackhouse respectively.

Miller is on a ‘prove it’ contract with Pramac in 2025. The Aussie is the only Yamaha rider not on a two-year deal and he likely would have been out of MotoGP had the Italian team not offered him a contract.
