KTM have quietly assembled one of the most impressive and exciting rider pairings ahead of the 2025 MotoGP season.

Pedro Acosta is the brightest young star in the sport currently and he joins up with the experienced and consistent Brad Binder.

Recent financial woes have hit KTM hard and there’s a possibility that they fall off the grid at the end of the 2026 season.

The manufacturer is over £1.6 billion (€2 billion) in debt and must find ways to cut costs before thousands of employees lose their jobs.

Motorsport is an expensive habit and is something which they could save big money on if they were to cut it.

There are 23 potential investors interested in a takeover of the Austrian company, which may help save the day for their operations in and away from MotoGP.

Brad Binder expects to ‘learn’ a lot from Pedro Acosta at KTM

KTM made the decision to promote Acosta after he secured the most podiums of any non-Ducati rider in 2024.

His performance on the satellite Tech3 bike impressed even Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia who battled with him at stages during the season.

It may even be justified to call Acosta a dark horse candidate for the riders’ championship in 2025 if KTM are able to conduct uninterrupted running all season.

Binder mentioned on MotoGP’s There Can Only Be One that he was excited to be able to learn from his new teammate when they get to work together from the Thailand Grand Prix onwards.

“It’s really cool to have a fast teammate and Pedro is next level. The way he rides the bike is so special and I have a lot to learn from him.”

How Pedro Acosta could make a groundbreaking MotoGP move to Ducati from KTM

Pit Berier believes Acosta’s rookie successes were dangerous for KTM as he put the rest of the grid on hgih alert regarding his ablities.

It created a higher risk for them to lose him, but they were able to keep hold of his services and can look forward to hosting his talents for the next two seasons.

Michelle Pirro wants to tempt Acosta to Ducati if the team drops off the grid, which would be a massive coup for the Italian team.

Considering their recent dominance, it’s not out of the question to think that he could challenge Bganaia and win multiple titles with them if he made the move.

Acosta could be worried about KTM in 2025 after Francesco Guidotti said they won’t be focused on performance this year, suggesting regression could be on the way.
