Francesco Bagnaia shares what he finds ‘very beautiful’ about Marc Marquez’s arrival at Ducati MotoGP team

Francesco Bagnaia faces one of the toughest MotoGP challenges he has ever encountered with the arrival of Marc Marquez at Ducati for 2025.

The two-time champion could have won another two titles in 2021 and 2024 if he had managed to limit his mistakes and score a collective 38 more points.

Bagnaia spent his honeymoon haunted by 2024 MotoGP errors but he has a great chance to bounce back and regain his title this year.

Reigning champion Jorge Martin’s defence has been weakened after moving to Aprilia – a slower bike on paper than the Ducati.

He missed out on a ride with the teams’ champions after they opted to acquire the services of Marc Marquez from Gresini instead.

It means that Bagnaia faces one of his stiffest challenges yet, working alongside a six-time champion who has been limited to racing in the midfield for nearly five years and is hungry for success again.

Francesco Bagnaia calls Marc Marquez’s Ducati arrival ‘very beautiful’ for his team

Marquez is going to bring an urgency and work ethic to the Italian manufacturer that few other personalities on the MotoGP grid could.

Ducati have a huge responsibility to give Marquez a good bike for his first full-time season with them and he can help them extend their advantage too.

His experience of bike development should be of use to the GP25, which Bagnaia was pleased with already in testing last November.

While addressing the media at Ducati’s 2025 bike launch, Bagnaia cited what is beautiful about Marquez’s arrival.

“Certainly in this historical moment, it is something very beautiful in my opinion for people who look at us, who work inside,” he said.

“Because a rider with a lot of experience is coming who will surely try everything to win. His goal is mine too, so we will try to see how the situation will evolve.”

Is Marc Marquez or Francesco Bagnaia the favourite for the 2025 MotoGP title?

Valentino Rossi thinks Bagnaia is the favourite for the 2025 title but is also aware that his fellow countryman needs to limit his mistakes.

The Italian rider has far more experience with a Ducati bike than his new teammate, and it should be a big advantage for him.

Marquez blamed Bagnaia’s costly mistakes in 2024 on risks, coming to the defence of his colleague who he believes had to compromise consistency for speed sometimes.

MotoGP figures think Marquez will take Bagnaia apart but won’t go public with their opinions. It shows how impressive the Spaniard was on a one-year-old GP23 bike last season.

He won the same amount of races as eventual champion Martin, on a bike which probably didn’t deserve that sort of accolade.

Opinions appear to be split regarding who will come out on top between the Ducati riders, but whoever does will have the upper hand heading into the final year of the regulations in 2026.
