Manuel Gonzalez in trouble with the People’s Liberation Army?

Gresini rider Manuel Gonzalez has managed to find himself dodging the poisoned chopsticks after upsetting China by wearing a headband before his maiden Moto2 victory last weekend in Japan.

Gonzalez was given a Hachimaki headband by the race organisers as ‘a bit of a laugh’ to wear whilst on the grid in Japan but Gresini’s title sponsor QJMotors were left ‘boiling their woks’.  In Japan the Hachimaki symbol links to the country’s proud warrior past.  However in the country of China, who are the world’s number one atmosphere polluters, the symbol represents a time when the Japs steamed into China before World War 2 and violently stole all their MSG…or something*.  It’s because of this that QJMotors seemed keen to play the victim card.

“They were really mad!” explained one bystander who was ordering takeaway from them at the time. “I’d say they were less sweet than sour when they spotted Gonzalez parading the Hachimaki in front of their smooth faces.  Their eyes were red with rage…or I think they were – it’s really hard to tell with Chinese people isn’t it?”

QJMotors, who definitely don’t use child labour as that’s an outdated stereotype, were so annoyed with Gonzalez’s nogging decoration that they’ve demanded that the Spanish rider be sacked immediately.  Then, possibly, chucked in with the Uyghur population for some re-education.

Despite Manuel’s comical faux pas last weekend the title of most stupid headwear idea in motorsport still doesn’t belong to him.  Instead that particular honour goes to the massively overrated F1 driver and social justice warrior Lewis Hamilton who once thought it would be fashionable to wear a balaclava knitted by someone elderly.
