Who’ll win the Catalan GP?

With a heavy heart and our thoughts still with Jason and his family and friends we head back to the MotoGP season.

Here’s Arjen with a reminder of what happened in Italy and his predictions:

So onto the Catalan GP. And two things always standout about this circuit:

  1. It’s boring
  2. You can’t mention it without a Rossi fan smugly appearing and chirping in to remind everyone of the pass Rossi did on Lorenzo…even though that was 12 years ago…and Lorenzo was a rookie at the time.

But the Yamahas appear to like this circuit which is great news for seemingly unstoppable Quartararararo. Better still the other Yam riders are all flawed: one’s not very good anymore, one’s on a rebadged FZR1000 Genesis and the other one’s not right in the head.

So a French win? Maybe…what about if it’s Zarco? The classically poignant-trained Frenchie has been knocking on the victorious chateaux door all season now and looks to be within a Gérard Depardieu DVD of winning.

Or maybe the factory Ducati riders may step up? Or the Suzuki riders? Or Alex Marquez…no wait that’s too ridiculous.

So who do think will win? Vote now:

Who will win the Catalan GP?

The poll has expired!

So how did you do last time?

Your selected winner: Francesco Bagnaia (29%)

Franco Bananas certainly looked like a good shout. Fast all weekend and led away from the start with the distinct advantage of his Ducati being considerably faster than the Yamahas….especially Morbidelli’s relic.

Sadly for Bagnaia he fell off whilst leading. Afterwards the Italian stated that the race should never have been run because of the tragic loss of Jason Dupasquier…but we were all left pondering ‘would he have still said that if he’d have won?’

Actual winner: Fabio Quartararo (12%)

There has been some hesitancy to back Fabio. Many of you believe that now is the time this particular Frenchman will wave the white flag, pack up his Charles Aznavour endorsed Brioche supplements and fall to pieces like he did last year.

The arm-pump episode made us twitchy too– was this just the first in elaborate series of medical excuses to what was actually a case of the French wandering bladder?

Thankfully not! Fabio bounced back in style and absolutely dominated in a win that was very Lorenzo-esq…just without his crew laughing at him behind his back.

Special mention: Italian food is way overrated (17%)

Agreed. Takeaway pizza and pasta and you’re just left with a handful of bread rolls and a lot of pointless arm waving and shouting.
